Rob and Krista purchased their home (c.1809) and 28 acre farm in 1992. Krista’s parents purchased the remaining 418 acres at the same time. Since then the families have been working together to restore the home and land. Extensive nature trails have been developed throughout the entire 446 acres. Here the family has enjoyed a wonderful connection to the land that surrounds them. We originally purchased the farm with the goal of raising children in a setting where they would learn to respect and connect with nature. We have homeschooled our children for the past eight years and the entire family is involved in running the farm. In 2008, we made the conscious decision for Rob to leave the engineering workforce to fulfill our dream of farming full-time. Farming is not an easy life, but it gives us the opportunity to further teach our children and be together. Many folks have inquired about our farm name and its unusual spelling. When we purchased the property it came with another farm name. In the process of developing a connection with the land we researched it’s history. In a book called “Old Home Places of Louisa County” we found that a man named Forrest Green patented this land. |
