Pastured Poultry Eggs & Meat Our chickens are raised here on our farm from the time they are two-day-old chicks without medications or antibiotics. Our chickens are raised in the pasture using a rotational grazing program. Here they are able to feed on fresh grass and insects. We move our chickens and uniquely designed portable laying houses throughout our pastures. For the winter we have built a specially designed greenhouse that can be moved along with the laying houses. The portable greenhouse provides exceptional warmth during the day and shelter from the winter elements. When the winter snows hide the pasture grass from the chickens, we actually feed our chickens hay and they love it. All our chickens are also supplemented with only non-GMO feed, fresh greens, and vegetables from our gardens and greenhouses. Here at Forrest Green Farm we raise pastured broilers during the spring, summer, and fall. Our broilers are raised in portable huts and moved to a new patch of pasture grass each day. This is why our chickens have such a rich full flavor. These chickens are raised until the desired size and processed here on our farm. They can be picked up freshly cleaned or frozen in a flavor protecting shrink-wrapped package. Our laying hens are not just “free range” or “cage free” or “fresh farm eggs” like many of the store bought egg cartons claim. Pasture raised chicken eggs are beyond those claims in richness, yolk color, and an unsurpassed quality for cooking and taste. Forrest Green Farm chickens are truly pasture raised, out in the open feeding on the grass and nature. This is where our eggs get their rich nutrients. Studies have shown that pasture raised chicken eggs are higher in vitamin E, beta-carotene, Omega 3’s, and lower in cholesterol than the standard USDA factory farm chicken eggs.
