Intro to the Whole Living Lifestyle, the Farm and the Team

In 1992, Krista and Rob Rahm purchased a farm in Louisa, Virginia, intending to raise their children with a deep appreciation for nature and the value of producing their food. They believed in living seasonally and wanted to cultivate a sustainable lifestyle that would benefit their family and community. Over the years, the Rahm family learned how to grow fruits and vegetables, raise animals for meat, and grow medicinal herbs to support their health and well-being. With a passion for Whole Living, they decided to share their knowledge and experience with others by offering classes and supplying products to support their mission. Today, their farm continues to thrive as a symbol of harmony with the land and a commitment to sustainable living.

The Rahm’s never intended to make farming a full-time career. However, after a decade of living in harmony with the land and producing their food and medicine, they began to see that health and wellness traditions were being lost for a busy lifestyle that created unhappiness and dis-ease. After many years of studying with incredible mentors, learning from their successes and failures, and making farming their full-time occupation, the Rahm’s began a new mission to educate people about Whole Living by supplying products and offering classes to support their mission. Their mission is to encourage simple living by growing foods and herbs to support wellness and connect with the natural world. Leading them to the motto “Wellness Simplified.”

The Whole Living Lifestyle is a lifestyle about balancing the mind, body, and spirit. Whole foods and herbs are an essential part of the Whole Living Lifestyle. Herbs can be our food as well as our medicine. Many herbs are nourishing to our bodies, packed full of vitamins, minerals, and have additional medicinal benefits. These whole foods and herbs are in a natural form that our bodies easily recognize and assimilate. Keeping our bodies properly nourished is essential for proper cell growth and balanced brain chemistry. In other words, if we are not eating whole nourishing foods and herbs, we will begin to see dis-ease in the body.

Skyler has been with Forrest Green Farm since graduating college, fully immersing herself in everything the farm does. She quickly took on responsibilities such as herbal product production, new product development, and marketing. Dylan, Krista and Rob's son, works as FGF's farm manager. The couple got married in 2017 and are committed to the Whole Living lifestyle and growing the family farm business.

Rob, Krista, Dylan, Skyler, and Lexy (store retail associate) are all dedicated full-time workers at the farm, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Shanah, (Rob and Krista's daughter) who works as a Veterinary Technician in Charlottesville, also lends a hand at the farm, and creates the luxurious Vibe and Thrive Body Care line. In addition to our hardworking team, we also receive part-time assistance from work trades during the busy season to help us keep the farm running smoothly.
